Adventuring is fun, especially when it comes to adventure games. These games were some of the earliest interactive entertainment computer games, beginning with Will Crowther’s Colossal Cave Adventure in 1976.
Originally confined to personal computers, adventure games have become popular on game consoles and mobile devices.
On computers, the genre came into its own with the 1981 release of Sierra On-Line’s King’s Quest. The game was an early example of open-world gameplay, and strongly influenced future adventures.
