Simulation video games are computer and/or video games that attempt to create a simulation of a real-world process or system. Most of the time, they are ‘real-time’, in which gameplay occurs in real-time as opposed to occurring as a rendered cinematic from a top-down or side view.
The term can also be used in the plural form of simulation games.
There are huge potential markets for all kinds of simulation games. They can be used to train people in various activities, such as pilots with flight simulators, or they could be used to give people the chance to experience activities that would otherwise be too expensive or difficult.
For example, fishing simulations could let gamers fish without having to go outside or buy a fishing rod.
